Attracting huge singing, acting and dancing talent from across the world, wherever you see Aladdin The Musical, it'll feature only the best! James Monroe Inglehart flourished in his role as the Genie and won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical as a member of the original Broadway cast in 2014 (he's since moved on to star in yet another smash hit musical Hamilton); Jade Ewen, a previous member of the popular girl group Sugababes, was a natural fit to play Princess Jasmine in the West End; and Jonathan Freeman was the only choice for Jafar… he voiced the villain in the original film. This monumental production simply cannot be missed, and with Aladdin The Musical tickets available to buy and sell via StubHub now, there's no need to be disappointed!
A musical legend at the helm
Aladdin The Musical features all the hit songs by legendary theatre and film score composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards (Best Original Score and Best Original Song for "A Whole New World") at the 1992 film awards. With eight Oscars as of 2018, Menken is the second most prolific winner in the music categories behind Alfred Newman, who has scooped up nine. Best known for his work on iconic Disney animations such as Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Pocahontas, Menken's influence on Broadway has also brought critical acclaim. In 2012, he won his first Tony Award for Best Score for Newbies and has written scores for some of the most successful musicals in recent times, including a stage adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, Sister Act and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Aladdin The Musical is, of course, a further success story for Menken, as well as for lyricists and frequent collaborators Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin.
