Adam French Tickets
With a husky singing style, Adam French is a musician, performer and songwriter who is based in the UK's capital. Originally from North West England, specifically Congleton, the artist has described himself as a lover of life. French started to take his first steps making music in his teenage years. The musician taught himself to play the guitar before going on to learn the piano, as well as the bass and drums. In 2012, French made the decision to relocate to London, where he began his career as a solo artist.
Initially playing small-scale gigs around the capital, the performer decided in 2013 to spread his wings. That year, he embarked on a self-organised tour of several African countries. This constituted a move that would bring him to the attention of the UK's music press and proved more helpful in getting him noticed than playing open mic nights in pubs and bars around the capital. With an ever-expanding public profile, French set about laying down some of his tracks in a studio to release them online.
Adam French's recordings and live work
In 2014, one of French's earliest recordings made it into the public domain. This was an EP named More to Life, which featured a track called “Ivory” that showed the singer's vocal range off to good effect. A standalone single, “Silhouettes”, followed in 2015. Around this time, French was getting better offers for his live work, too. He appeared live at the Reading Festival for the first time at this point in his career, for example.
Later in 2015, French released a single called “Hunter”, which was backed with a new track, “Punchbag Love”. It was this release that helped the young performer to gain a place on the BBC's regular 'Sound Of' list. Writing about his personal experiences, French said that his music and lyrics explored 'life, death and love as well as everything else'. French's lyrics, in particular, showed his desire to relate to his past and present in a manner very much his own.
In 2016, French embarked on the Communion New Faces Tour with a number of other up-and-coming artists. At this time, he signed a deal with Virgin EMI for future releases. The singer received radio airplay in the UK by Huw Stephens on his BBC Radio 1 show and toured a few dates in North America promoting his latest EP, Face to Face. This four-track work included the downbeat song, “The Optimist”, as well as poppier numbers such as “Hunter”. In 2017, French returned with a new single, “Weightless”.
