The cast of Abbaphonic
With West End stars Emma Kershaw and Abbie Osmon on vocals, and Matthew Freeman conducting the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra there's little doubt to how much fun you're going to have, especially with the Swedish pop group having brought us a number of pop classics. For anyone worried about the two starring vocalists, there really isn't any reason to.Abbie Osmon can boast roles in musicals such as We Will Rock You and Sleeping Beauty, along with being backing vocals for such incredible artists as Kylie Minogue, Cliff Richard and Tom Jones. Likewise, Emma Kershaw can boast impressive credentials with musicals such as Les Miserables and Fame under her belt.
As for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, standing as a professional institution dating back to 1947, it shouldn't be a surprise that the RPO can boast being the first UK orchestra to launch their own record label. As for Matthew Freeman, his previous work with RPO saw the release of the albums Symphonic Rock and follow-up More Symphonic Rock, so if anyone knows how to treat the ABBA collection, it's Freeman.
ABBA's greatest hits
There's little doubt which songs you're likely to hear from the seventies pop group's impressive catalogue. But did you know that there are actually quite a few interesting facts regarding ABBA's top tracks: For example, "Dancing Queen" actually stood as the world's first Europop disco hit, with band member Anni-Frida Lyngstad crying upon hearing just the music for the first time. Most people may not realise this but ABBA were actually one of the few band's to grow famous due to the Eurovision Song Contest, winning the 1874 edition with breakout song "Waterloo".
