Two unique venues under one roof
This multi-faceted venue boasts two unique spaces, hosting everything from product launches to private gigs, as well as The Thirsty Scholar is 229’s private member’s bar. In the spacious ground level Venue 1, with a capacity for 620, there is a raised stage boasting impressive acoustics that provide a loud and raucous experience for gig goers. Kings of Leon have previously launched one of their albums here, so it makes for the perfect backdrop for rock bands. Underground, the smaller Venue 2 holds 150 people and offers quirky, yet industrial interiors with exposed brick walls. The intimate space is perfect for up-and-coming performers and has introduced new and unknown acts like Bellevue Days, Little Brother Eli, Elle Exxe, REWS and China Lane. This 2nd venue also has a separate entrance and its own bar area. Whether you want to see the next big music act or want to watch your favourite indie band on their tour, you can get up close and personal during a gig at 229 The Venue.
