College Football Playoff TicketsThe College Football Playoff is the organization that chooses the national champion for FBS college football. The CFP was created in 2014 and serves to definitively decide who the best college football team is for that season. This process adds a new dimension to the existing bowl postseason system. The CFP is managed by the FBS conferences and has all 10 conferences as members of the committee. A board made up of managers, counselors, management committee personnel and CFP staff also helps in managing the playoff. So far, Alabama Crimson Tide has made it to all of the five past playoffs and has won the CFP title twice. The Clemson Tigers has participated four times, the Oklahoma Sooners three times and the Ohio State Buckeyes twice. The SEC was the first conference to have two teams in the playoffs in 2017. Why was the College Football Playoff instituted?Previously, the system of naming a champion for the college football season was convoluted. For many years, the champion was decided upon by the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, which would often result in two differing champions. In 1997, the six largest conferences created the Bowl Championship Series. The BCS used complex algorithms to name a champion. Again, this sometimes resulted in dual champions from the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll. In 2014, the College Football Playoff was created. There are no polls or computer rankings. This new system uses a committee of 13 members to pick the four playoff teams on selection day. The CFP has proven to be a popular system for choosing the championship players.
