The Black Keys Biography - Ohio's Finest Rock Out Once More
They may be one of the biggest rock bands in the world right now, but this hard-hitting blues-rock duo started out in much more humble fashion. They formed in 2001 in Akron, Ohio, with Dan Auerbach on guitar and vocals and Patrick Carney on drums. The pair, who dropped out of college to pursue music full-time, released their debut album The Big Come Up in 2002, then toiled on the underground circuits around the world, building up a cult fanbase. Things geared up for them in 2004 with their third album Rubber Factory peaking interest in critics, but they remained a decidedly cult act until 2008's Attack & Release, which was produced by feted studio hand Danger Mouse. Diverging into hip hop with their Blakroc rap collaboration project, they finally went global in 2010 with their stunning Brothers album, garnering Grammy Awards, playing arenas and following it up with El Camino.
