Robyn Biography - Teenage Pop Star To Independent Supernova
Discovered at the tender age of 12, Robin Miriam Carlsson began recording her first album straight out of school. Working alongside producer Max Martin - a collaborator with the likes of Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry - the Swedish songstress released her debut album Robyn Is Here in 1996. A mixture of European electro-pop and R&B, the album showed commercial potential and after a hectic promotional tour in 1997 the young talent had to cancel her stint as supporting act to teenage heartthrobs Backstreet Boys due to exhaustion.
Releasing two additional albums on label BMG, the decade-long relationship came to an end in 2004. When BMG failed to support the new direction on single 'Who's That Girl', Robyn chose artistic freedom over towing the label line and founded her own label, Konichiwa Records. The releases of independent albums Robyn and Body Talk took the star to new heights of fandom, with Robyn tickets soaring in demand as her career enjoyed a second wind of chart-topping success.
