Danko Jones Tickets
"Danko Jones Tickets
Formed in 1996 and managing to keep all three original members over the years, Danko Jones is a Canadian band that proves America doesn't have a monopoly on garage or blues rock. Their high-intensity live performances have landed them on several hard rock festival stages, and even though they started out hard in the mid-90s, they've not lost a bit of energy since then.
Schedule
Although the bulk of their touring takes place in their home country of Canada, the band makes sure that fans can snag Danko Jones tickets regardless of where they live in the world. They've previously played at the Venue in Vancouver, BC, and Cactus Jack's in Kamloops, BC, but they've also made their way across the pond to play at the Privat Club in Berlin, the Melkweg in Amsterdam and Oslo Hackney in London. Upcoming shows include a stop at the Limelight 2 in Belfast and Sound Control in Manchester after stopping in at the Telegrafbukta in Norway and the Evenemententerrein Weert-noord in the Netherlands.
Trivia
While most bands dream of the day they can put out an album, Danko Jones originally didn't even want to take this step. Through touring around and opening for bands like The Make-Up, The Dirtbombs and Blonde Redhead, they had hoped that their reputation and popularity would spread strictly by word of mouth. The band has long since moved past that point in their career, and the lead singer, Danko Jones, now hosts his own podcast that has featured stars such as Henry Rollins, Feist, Lydia Criss and WWE's very own rock star from Fozzy, Chris Jericho.
Band
Danko Jones came together in 1996 and consisted of the man the band is named after, Danko Jones, Rich Knox and John "JC" Calabrese. Calabrese handles the bass guitar, Knox is on the drums and Danko plays the guitar while providing vocals for the trio. They toured around for about two years before even putting out their first self-titled EP in 1998. Although they never secured mainstream name recognition in America, the release of I'm Alive and on Fire by a Swedish record company ensured that the band would make waves in Europe and North America.
Breakthrough
It didn't take long for Danko Jones to hit their breakthrough point. Only one year after the release of their self-titled EP, the band's self-produced EP My Love is Bold got serious attention when the single "Bounce" received national exposure. At the following year's Juno Awards, Danko Jones was nominated for Best Alternative Album. This popularity secured their spot opening for The Rolling Stones at Toronto's Palais Royale in 2002, and the rest is history.
Hit Albums
Danko Jones has released well over a dozen studio albums, extended plays and compilations. Born a Lion (2002), Sleep is the Enemy (2006), Never Too Late (2008) and Below the Belt (2010) all received critical acclaim from Allmusic. We Sweat Blood was released in 2003, and when 2005 rolled around and The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time was released by Rock Hard magazine, the album ranked at #466. Rock and Roll Is Black and Blue was released in 2012, and its song "Just a Beautiful Day" topped out at #10 on the rock/alternative chart in Canada.
Show Experience
One look at Danko Jones during a live performance and fans will immediately know that these guys are the real deal. Their entire aura exudes rock-star cool, and whether they're playing small shows or metal festivals, they make sure to get the audience engaged. Danko speaks directly to the fans, and this leads to people jumping off their feet and pumping their hands in the air from the opening chords of each song. The level of energy experienced by those with Danko Jones tickets is undeniable, and any metal fan is doing themselves a disservice by missing these intense shows.
