Blue October Biography - Post-Grunge Perfection

This Houston five-piece formed in the 1990s, when singer-songwriter Justin Furstenfeld began penning songs with his musician brother Jeremy and violinist friend Ryan Delahoussaye. After enlisting the help of guitarist Brant Coulter and bassist Matt Noveskey, the burgeoning band released their debut album The Answers in 1998. Their highly emotive brand of rock helped them shift thousands of copies in their native state of Texas alone. After two years of exhaustive touring, the band made their big label debut after signing to Universal records for the release of their album Consent to Treatment.

After a hiatus, Coulter left the group and they lost their label deal - but managed to turn things around with the release of their third album History for Sale in 2003. With new guitarist CB Hudson, the band's single 'Calling You' became a Top 40 hit after being featured in the popular film American Pie 3: The Wedding. Within a year, the LP had scored platinum sales and was named Album of the Year at the Houston Music Awards. As their success continues with seventh effort Sway, this easy-going group are fast becoming a vintage alternative favourite with rock fans around the world.
