The Struts: 21st century rock 'n' roll
The latest band to emerge from the untapped well of Derby, over the past few years The Struts have earned a reputation as rock and roll personified. As well as supporting rock legends such as The Rolling Stones and Guns N' Roses in recent years, the band have even had their stage outfits personally designed by British fashion icon Zandra Rhodes, who has kitted out the likes of Freddie Mercury and Brian May of Queen with her dramatic, glamourous creations.
The group will be busy working on their new album and touring again in 2018, performing both new material and much-lauded tracks such as "Kiss This" and "Could Have Been Me" from their smash hit debut record Everybody Wants. Don't miss out on seeing one of their outrageous live performances: get The Struts tickets now at StubHub UK.
The Struts: attracting a legion of superstar fans
Starting out in 2009, young Derby rock band The Struts might be only a few years into their career, but they're already creating a storm on transatlantic airwaves. Frontman Luke Spiller, guitarist Adam Slack, bassist Jed Elliot and drummer Gethin Davies released their debut album Everybody Wants to critical acclaim in 2014, buoyed by their smash hit single "Could Have Been Me". The track was hit number one on the Spotify Viral Top 50 and received over 10 million plays on the streaming platform; propelling it into the top five of the alternative rock charts, and prompting a small but hugely popular tour of the US.
Their onstage bravado and irrespirable rock rebellion have struck a chord with some of the biggest rock bands in history - The Rolling Stones, Guns N' Roses, The Who and Foo Fighters have all asked the band to open for them on various tours - and a second album is already well in the works.
On the album, Luke Spiller said, "I think everyone's really going to enjoy it. We were very much aware that even though the band has lived with the first album and the songs that come with it for quite a while, for everyone else, it's relatively fresh. So I felt like it was really important to make this second album somewhat depart from the first one. Not a departure musically, I didn't want to go completely left. I think it's important to give people more of what they fall in love with."
