Steel Panther Biography - Get Nostalgic for '80s Glam Rock
The group, consisting of Ralph Michael Saenz - better known by his stage name Michael Starr - guitarist Satchel, bassist Lexxi Foxxx and drummer Stix Zadinia, was first formed in the early 2000s. After managing to gain popularity on the Sunset Strip under the moniker of Metal Shop the band gathered a reputation for their covers and parodies of '80s glam rock bands. Through various TV cameos and an appearance on Hey, That's What I Call Sludge! Vol 1 with the track 'Death to All But Metal' the band started to gain momentum.
After renaming to their current moniker, the quartet signed with Republic Records to release debut album Feel the Steel which hit the No.1 spot on the Billboard Comedy Chart and featured vocal performances by Corey Taylor, Justin Hawkins, and M. Shadows. Sophomore effort Balls Out did similarly well, topping the UK iTunes Rock charts. Their swift entrance to fame soon saw them performing with Def Leppard and open for the legendary Guns N' Roses.
