Sunderland AFC Games at the Stadium of Light - Home of the Black Cats

Originally built in the mid-1990s as a replacement for former Sunderland football ground Roker Park, the new stadium was intended to provide an all-seater solution that would not have to compromise on capacity. Able to seat 49,000 spectators, with room to expand to a capacity of 66,000, the stadium is an impressive sight to behold. Opened by Prince Andrew in 1997, the football ground is built on the former site of a colliery, with the stadium's name paying homage to its mining-based roots.

In addition to holding some of Sunderland's tensest football matches, the venue has also hosted some major music acts, including Take That, Kings of Leon and Coldplay. Conveniently situated just a 15-minute walk away from the town centre, the stadium has become the entertainment hub of Sunderland and provides its visitors with extreme comfort.
