Club Nights at London Scala - For the Best Alternative Live Music

The building was intended to begin life as a live venue and cinema but WWI halted production on the progress of the build and saw the structure used for manufacturing aircraft parts until finally opening as King's Cross Cinema in 1920. Its growing importance in the music scene found it chosen as the venue for Iggy & the Stooges' one and only UK concert in 1972, with all the photos used on the Raw Power album sleeve sourced from that evening. However, in 1993 the cinema showed A Clockwork Orange, despite it having been withdrawn from UK distribution, resulting in a hefty court fee leading to the bankruptcy of the cinema.

Reopening in 1999, the newly refitted building was now solely a music venue. Containing additional floors, DJ booths and a stage, the venue was now prepared to host the likes of Foo Fighters, The Killers and the Chemical Brothers. In addition to its three bars, two dance floors and four main floors, the nightspot is capable of holding up to 1,145 concertgoers during its floor-filling electric events and heaving live stages.
