From house parties to the Mercury Prize

Born in Bristol in 1969, Ryan Williams adopted his Roni Size moniker when he began making music inspired by his love of house parties in his teens. In the mid-1990s, he set up his own label, WTP, and formed Reprazent, a collective that would become instrumental in the drum and bass sound's commercial breakthrough. Spawning the UK Top 40 singles "Share the Fall", "Heroes" and "Brown Paper Bag", their 1997 debut album, "New Forms", beat the Spice Girls, The Prodigy and Radiohead to the Mercury Music Prize that same year. Size then teamed up with DJ Die and Leonie Laws to record 1999's "Ultra-Obscene" under the guise of Breakbeat Era before recruiting the likes of Method Man and Rage Against the Machine's Zack de la Rocha on Reprazent's 2000 LP, "In the Mode". His first entirely solo effort, "Touching Down", arrived in 2002 and was followed up by 2004's "Return to V", 2014's "Take Kontrol" and 2016's joint LP with long-time collaborator DJ Krust, "Past and Present". A thrilling, high BPM show

Few drum and bass artists are as experienced as Roni Size when it comes to the live stage. The award-winning star has toured the world both as a DJ and member of his Reprazent collective, playing at high-profile European festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Lovebox, Rock Herk and EXIT as well as numerous headlining dates. He's also taken his thrilling sound to the United States, appearing at Miami's Ultra Music Festival and Coachella, and Down Under to Australia's Good Vibrations Festival. While Roni Size's live shows typically include a high-energy blend of drum and bass, jungle, hip-hop and house that keeps the crowd in the party mood throughout, the star isn't afraid to venture outside his comfort zone either. In 2009, he and Reprazent performed with a full orchestra and choir to help reopen their hometown's concert venue, Colston Hall, treating fans to classical renditions of his biggest club anthems.
