Starting out their performing career in high school in Arlington, Texas, the initial members of Pentatonix got their first taste of fame when their Glee-inspired cover of Lady Gaga's song 'Telephone' gained traction on YouTube. Noticing that between them, their vocal range matched the pentatonic scale, their band name was an obvious choice. In 2011, the group auditioned for the hit TV competition The Sing-Off and secured themselves a place in the show. Their ambitious, vocally astounding covers of contemporary pop songs such as Katy Perry's 'E.T.' and classics such as Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On' helped the band charm the public and they went on to win.
The band rapidly found a huge fan base, releasing a slew of successful cover albums including various volumes of their PTX series, promoting them via social media. In 2015, they delivered a fourth studio album which diverted from their initial path to success - the record was packed with all-original material, and received rave reviews. From their cameo role in Pitch Perfect 2 to the release of their own documentary, the band seem to be everywhere at the moment, and they're in the UK as part of their 2016 tour.
