Marti Pellow Biography - Record-Breaking Musical Feats

Born in 1965 as Mark McLachlan, this singer's musical education began at an early age, when he would listen to his mother's Burt Bacharach, Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye LPs. Struggling against his father's insistence that he follow in his footsteps as a builder, the teenage Mark found escape in the form of a band he started with three more high school friends - they would later come to be known as Wet Wet Wet.

Marti's voice was a stand-out feature for the band, and the group would go on to score the longest-running number one single of all time with a cover of The Troggs' 'Love Is All Around'. Following their disbandment, the artist decided to continue pursuing his love of music and embarked upon a solo career. After putting out his Top 10 solo debut, Smile, the multi-talented performer was offered the role of Billy Flynn in hit musical Chicago - this would mark the beginning of a career straddling music and theatre. Combining old Wet Wet Wet hits with his new, more soulful jazz-inspired approach, the soloist has become a more refined act that both critics and fans adore.
