Ludovico Einaudi Biography - The Sound of a New Era
Born in Turin, Italy as the grandson of Luigi Einaudi, the country's first post-war president, this talented melody maker studied at the prestigious Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan. He was tutored by composer Luciano Berio, leader of the classical avant-garde movement, and eventually received his diploma in composition in 1982. Honing his craft over the years, the talented Italian was inspired by New Age music while searching for a more personal sound. Combining art and music into multimedia shows, he crafted an introspective, minimalist sound and incomparable live experience that set him apart from his contemporaries.
The new compositions were instantly recognised for their affecting beauty, and the burgeoning artist started to perform on the international stage, playing distinguished venues such as Teatro alla Scala and New York's Lincoln Centre. In 1992, the release of his sophomore album, Stanze, earned him heaps of critical recognition and spread his music beyond classical circles. In 2011 the composer reached new heights of stardom when the single 'I Giorni' reached the Top 40 on the UK Singles Chart, thanks to the support of BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James.
