A history of the venue in Birmingham

Mark Tughan founded the Glee Club in Birmingham in 1994 after sensing a huge gap in the market for comedy clubs. The Glee stages have since been graced by modern comedy royalty such as Jimmy Carr, Michael McIntyre, Johnny Vegas and Greg Davies. Larger acts like Jack Dee and Lee Evans have also performed in-house before heading off to tour the country. The Glee Club has homes in five cities in the UK: not just Birmingham, but also Cardiff, Oxford, Nottingham and Glasgow. In 2001 the venue complex brought in a music promoter, which has since brought some of the best and biggest names in music to all of the Glee Clubs. A long list of previous artists includes Adele, Mumford and Sons, Jake Bugg, Richard Hawley and many more.
