British Masters Golf Tickets

Returning after a six year hiatus, the British Masters will take place at Woburn Golf Club, where some of the greatest stars in golf will fight to be crowned the 2015 British Masters Champion. British Masters Golf tickets are a must for any British golf fan.

Event

The four day event will be held at Woburn Golf Club in Little Brickhill, near Milton Keynes in the southeast of England. Woburn Golf Club is home to three 18-hole courses: the Duke's, the Duchess' and the Marquess'. It is the Marquess' course that will play host to the drama of what is sure to be a thrilling four days of golf. Each year, the venue is selected by the one of the four Ryder Cup players: Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Justin Rose or Ian Poulter.

As a part of the European Tour, the British Masters will be organised and advertised by the Tour, and the competition will be one of 48 events in the Tour's 'Race to Dubai'. The European Tour's involvement also means a significant prize fund of £3 million that will be distributed among the competition's top finishers. The likes of Rory McIlroy, Louis Oosthuizen, Justin Rose and Henrik Stenson could be among the players vying for glory in a nail-biting British Masters. For those who are not able to attend, the event will also be broadcasted live on television by Sky Sports.

History of Event

The British Masters was first held in 1946. The event was initially sponsored by Dunlop, and was therefore known as the Dunlop Masters until Dunlop ended their sponsorship in 1982. Since then, the role of lead sponsor has changed hands almost yearly. In 2006, the Quinn Group assumed the responsibility as lead sponsors for a two-year period. Afterwards, the competition organisers encountered difficulty securing a new sponsor and, as a result, the competition was removed from the European Tour schedule the following year. This meant that, from 2009 to 2014, there was no British Masters competition. Fortunately, in 2015, Sky Sports offered support and investment for the event, and a new British Masters 2015 was established with the format of the four Ryder Cup players choosing each venue in turn.

A number of big names have won the British Masters during its 68-year history. British fans will remember Lee Westwood's triumphant win by five strokes in 2007 at The Belfry, beating close friend and fellow Brit, Ian Poulter. Before Westwood, there was a string of British victories from 2002 to 2004, beginning with Justin Rose, then Greg Owen and finally Barry Lane.

Trivia

There have been many exciting moments at the British Masters. In the very first year that the event was held, the competition ended as a tie between Scotland's Jimmy Adams and South Africa's Bobby Locke. Twenty-one years later, the competition provided the first ever live televised hole-in-one, shot by Tony Jacklin.

Spectator Experience

Spectators can expect four exciting days of golf, played out on the beautiful 200-acre course at Woburn. The course is known for its mix of pine, spruce, chestnut and oak trees, in addition to its gently undulating terrain. As the event is held in the British autumn, visitors should anticipate some unpredictable weather. Fortunately, this will only act to make play more exciting! The event will offer the opportunity for fans to meet their golfing heroes, many of whom are often happy to sign autographs and take pictures.
