Amy Macdonald Biography - A Self-Taught Star
Macdonald's music career was born out of a set by Travis during T in the Park in 2000. After watching the band perform Turn live, Amy was inspired to teach herself on her father's guitar. Following this, she began to tour around local pubs and coffee houses in Glasgow when she was still only 15.
The singer's big break came when she replied to an advertisement in NME by a new production company set up by Pete Wilkinson. Out of 500 demos, Amy's immediate jumped out at Pete and they would spend the next nine months recording songs together, resulting in Amy being signed to Vertigo Records and releasing her debut album This is The Life in 2007. Since then the singer has enjoyed immense success with multi-national chart topping albums and singles. Citing The Killers and The Libertines as influences, her straightforward, humble themes and honest lyrics have won over audiences across the world resulting in numerous international tours and accolades from the Echo and Silver Clef Awards.
