Alter Bridge: hard rockers continue to rise up UK charts

After starting out in 1990s grunge-rock favourites Creed, guitarist Mark Tremonti, drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall teamed up with singer Myles Kennedy in 2004 to form a new outfit. Touting a fresh brand of melodic, post-grunge riff rock, their debut album One Day Remains became a gold-selling chart success in 2004 after being heavily featured in the theme music for WWE. The band became synonymous with the wrestling brand and even gave a live performance in an episode of the Raw TV show; exposing them to a huge trans-Atlantic audience.

The band's second album Blackbird enthralled critics in 2007 and paved the way for their darker follow up record AB III, spawning their magnum opus single "Isolation" which topped the rock charts in the US. The foursome are now firm favourite at rock festivals all over the world and their fierce reputation continues to grow in the UK, where they recorded their popular 2012 concert album Live at Wembley. 

After 2013 album Fortress peaked at number six – and 2016 follow-up The Last Hero at number three – the band are definitely on the rise, and will be looking to go one better with their next effort in the coming years.
