Vance Joy: indie superstar to visit UK in 2018
After storming the charts with upbeat indie folk song "Ripitude" in 2013, Vance Joy hasn't looked back. Since its initial commercial and chart success in his native Australia, "Riptide" has peaked at number ten in the UK, number one on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart and, by May 2015, was the second longest charting single still in the US Billboard Hot 100, appearing on that list for 43 weeks. In the Australian charts, the song remained in the top 100 for over 120 weeks; easily surpassing the previous record of 106 weeks held by Lady Gaga for "Poker Face".
Joy signed a five-album deal with Atlantic Records, and followed up his initial success with the release of his critically acclaimed debut EP God Loves You When You're Dancing (which included debut single "From Afar") in March 2013, before putting out his full debut album Dream Your Life Away the following September.
Compared to the likes of George Harrison by The Telegraph newspaper, Joy appears to heading for huge success. 2018's critically acclaimed second album Nation of Two made it two commercial successes in quick succession, with Vance Joy set to visit the UK in 2018 to promote his latest work.
