Groves v Eubank tickets: who will come out on top?

Super-middleweight champion George Groves will defend his WBA title against fellow countryman Chris Eubank Jr at the Manchester Arena on 17 February.

It will be the first time Groves has boxed at the Manchester Arena since his controversial 2013 defeat at the hands of Carl Froch, and the first meeting between the Londoner and Brighton's Eubank. The champion had expressed a desire for the World Boxing Super Series semi-final to take place at a football stadium in his native London.

Prior to this bout, Groves (27-3, 20 KOs) beat Jamie Cox in his first title defence, in the Super Series quarter-final at Wembley Arena last month, while Eubank (26-1, 20 KOs) beat Turkey's Avni Yildirim in Germany. Callum Smith, another Briton, fights Germany's former light heavyweight world titleholder Jurgen Brahmer in the other semi-final, with a date and venue to be confirmed soon. 

Ahead of the fight 'Saint George' told Eubank: "If I was the smaller man in a fight at this high level and this hard I would be very concerned. No one who leaves himself wide open by throwing punches from his ankles can beat me."

Eubank, meanwhile, responded with a warning of his own: "You are acting as though I'm a stepping stone. I'm a mountain and you're not going to climb it. I'm Mount Everest," he told Groves.

"I'm a different animal and this is my time. Nothing that he has can outweigh the fire and the heat that is going to brought down upon him. This is real people fighting and real people go to sleep. Whenever you get hit, you crumble, and that is what you will do."

What is the World Boxing Super Series?

The "Champions League of boxing" is a new event with a $50m prize pot and a trophy named after Muhammad Ali. Comosa AG - the company which owns the event - runs two tournaments: one for cruiserweights and one for super-middleweights.

Within each, eight men will compete from a quarter-final stage through to an eventual winner being crowned in each weight category. Along the way, if a fighter meets an opponent who is currently a world champion, that belt will be on the line.
