World Wide Technology Raceway
World Wide Technology Raceway Tickets
World Wide Technology Raceway is a popular racetrack in Madison, Illinois that lets you get close to racing engines. Once called Gateway International Raceway, it now uses the official name of World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway after new owners took over the operations of the track. Built in 1967 as a drag strip, it later became a road course and then an oval course for traditional racecars and drag racing cars. The track is now a 1.25-mile oval course that welcomes both races from the IndyCar and NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series. One of the more popular events held at the track is the Gander Outdoors Truck Series Race, which sees racers from that series compete for points. What is the World Wide Technology Raceway seating capacity?
World Wide Technology Raceway can seat 78,000 visitors at events. This makes it one of the largest tracks in Illinois and one of the biggest venues in the Midwest.
Where are the best World Wide Technology Raceway seats located?
The best seats are along turns 3 and 4 because of the steep banking. That banking requires drivers to use all their skills to keep from sliding off the track and from crashing into other vehicles. There is good banking on turns 1 and 2 also. If you want to see winners do doughnuts and celebrate their victories, you may prefer seats on the straightaway near the start/finish line.
Can you meet racers at the track?
Many racers host meet-and-greets as a way to get to know their fans. Those events often take place on the same days that they practice at the track or on qualifying days. You usually do not need a separate ticket to attend a meet and greet, though you need a ticket to enter the track. These events offer opportunities for fans to meet their favorite racers and both get their autographs and have their photos taken with them.
Is there on-site parking?
There is on-site parking available for an additional fee per day. Whether you come from I-70 or any other major highway, you'll follow the signs and the crowds to the track. Attendants will direct you to available parking areas and take your payment. Only cash is accepted. There are often tailgating parties taking place in the lots before races. If you purchase one of the suite packages or at least two seats in a suite, you'll receive a free parking pass.
Can you tell me about the food and drink offerings?
You'll have plenty of chances to grab a drink and some food in the tailgating parties in the parking lot, but the track itself offers food for sale too. As you walk through the lot into the fan area, you'll see food stands and trucks similar to those you would find at a fair. Inside the track are concession stands that sell both beer and nonalcoholic drinks as well as full meals and snacks. Some food is available for guests sitting in the suites, too.
