Will Hoge Tickets
Will Hoge TicketsWill Hoge has defied a lot of things in life, including genre. Although he is known mostly as a country artist, his sound is more encompassing than that, often traversing into the broad realm of rock 'n' roll. Hoge describes his sound as "rock 'n' roll with country soul," and fans agree that he has plenty of the latter.
ScheduleWill Hoge tickets are still something special after all these years. Hoge is wrapping up a run in the United States with dates in Cincinnati, Ohio, and College Station, Texas, before embarking for the United Kingdom. There he appears at Glasgow's O2 ABC with additional shows at Night & Day Cafe in Manchester, Bush Hall in London, The Portland Arms in Cambridge and The Green Door Store in Brighton. From there he returns to the States for the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Franklin, Tenn.
TriviaWill Hoge cites country artists such as Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and Loretta Lynn as big influences, as well as noncountry artists such as Bob Dylan and the Beatles. His musician father was also a big influence, and now that he's a parent, Hoge is aware of how big an influence he is on his sons. He says he would never discourage his kids from a career in music, though he would be truthful about its hardships. He would also be truthful about the hardships of riding a motor scooter, keeping the smashed scooter from his near-fatal accident in his shed as a stark reminder to them.
Band/SingerHailing from Franklin, Tenn., Will Hoge attended college intending to be a history teacher before the music bug caught him. His first try was with a band called Spoonful, but after failing to find success, he went solo and independently released his first studio album, "Carousel," in 2000. Then came a detour with Atlantic Records before resuming as an independent artist and steadily establishing himself with a uniquely loyal fan base. A near-fatal scooter accident in 2008 nearly derailed his career, but he came back a man reborn, and in recent years, he has seen his audience grow to unforeseen heights.
BreakthroughAfter his scooter accident, Will Hoge was at a bit of a crossroads until the Eli Young Band decided to use his song "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" on its 2011 album, "Life at Best." Hoge, who cowrote the song with Eric Paslay, saw the new recording reach number one on the Hot Country charts and eventually received Grammy, CMA and ACM nominations. He called the Eli Young Band's version "monumental" for his career and credited it with opening numerous doors.
Hit AlbumsWill Hoge has released so many albums that he resorted to naming his seventh "Number Seven." It was a bit of levity for a catalogue that includes such tragic titles as "Blackbird on a Lonely Wire," "The Man Who Killed Love" and "The Wreckage," but through it all, Hoge has revealed himself to be an accomplished and evolving recording artist. Works including 2013's "Never Give In" and 2015's "Small Town Dreams" continue his autobiographical habits and show a more reflective, nostalgic slant, perhaps influenced by his near-death experience and becoming a father.
Show ExperienceWhen you get your hands on Will Hoge tickets, expect a night to remember. Accompanied by an experienced backing band, Hoge plays his shows much like a shared experience, often chatting with the crowd and leading them in sing-alongs to his hits. Quiet, affecting moments are also featured as he plays occasional solo interludes with just an acoustic guitar. Whether he's alone or with the band, his soulful vocals are a match for his accomplished songwriting; they're so good that he's even been audacious enough to sing an encore without a mic. The dude knows how to pull it off."
