Wicked Cleveland Tickets
Wicked Cleveland TicketsWicked, the Broadway musical, is coming to Cleveland. Written by Winnie Holzman and based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked, tells the tale of Elphaba and Glinda, two young school friends who grow up to be The Wicked Witch of the West and The Good Witch of the North, respectively, in the Kingdom of Oz. The journey to becoming those characters has twists, turns, betrayal and revelations about the goodness (or badness) of the Wizard. This play has fantastic music as well as touching and heartbreaking scenes throughout. Ultimately, Wicked has a satisfying ending and explains the origins of the Cowardly Lion, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow. Cleveland has previously played host to Wicked tours, and new dates may be scheduled.
Based on the Gregory Maguire NovelGregory Maguire, author of Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West said when he was growing up that he and his siblings were only allowed to watch The Wizard of Oz when it aired on television once a year. After Maguire's first viewing of the movie, he was inspired to read the book The Wizard of Oz. This inspiration as well as the United States involvement in Iraq lead to him eventually creating the novel Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. Maguire's novel conveys the message of good and evil in the Land of OZ through his main characters, Elphaba and Glinda, who portrays the two opposite ends of the spectrum of human nature. From Maguire's novel, the story line was adapted to become a Broadway musical and has been seen at numerous places throughout the world like Chicago, London's West End, Germany, Japan and many other places. The success of Wicked is evidenced by the Tony Awards it has received.
