Wicked Bristol Tickets
Staged at the Bristol Hippodrome in 2018, Wicked Bristol is part of the nationwide tour of one of the most successful original musicals of recent years. The entire production has transferred successfully to many regional theatres in the UK and Ireland before, following a tremendous run in the West End of London. One of the longest running shows in the history of musicals in the capital, Wicked has showstopping songs, fascinating characters and a storyline that children and adults can both enjoy. The show's promoters recommend that children aged 7 and upwards will enjoy the show, but because of the witchcraft that is a part of the narrative, it is not suited to younger kids. The show has already been seen by over 50 million people in 15 countries, making it one of the most popular theatrical productions ever. Wicked has gained over 100 major awards around the world.
Wicked Bristol's staging
Acclaimed by many reviewers as one of the best musicals of the 21st century, Wicked is staged to depict the incredible story of an unlikely friendship between two students of sorcery in a land named Oz. Already known to many from the book and film called The Wizard of Oz, this roots the musical's storyline in a place that is both fantastic and familiar. The extraordinary adventure focuses on the intertwining destinies of Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West. Adapted from the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked builds on the characters originally created by L. Frank Baum, the author of the original book.
Due to the fantasy realm needed to be conjured up on a Bristol stage, Wicked makes great use of technical wizardry in its staging, especially with the light show and special effects. There are some stunning costumes and make-up effects that are used. However, these elements will fall flat if a musical does not have some show songs that will live long in the memory after a show has been seen. Thankfully, Wicked does not disappoint in this key area, either.
The words and music of Stephen Schwartz are able to come to life, thanks to the wonderful cast that make up Wicked Bristol. Tracks such as “No One Mourns a Wicked”, “Dancing Through Life”, “I'm Not That Girl” and “Gravity Defying” all make up part of the first act. After the interval, the show tunes keep coming, with songs such as “As Long As You're Mine”, “No Good Deed” and “For Good”. The original cast recording of the show was released in 2003. It won the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. The LP was certified as platinum selling in 2006. A German language version was put out the following year.
