Washington Wizards Schedule
Despite the 2015-2016 not ending in the playoffs, there was still a lot to like about the season that has spurred optimism heading into a fresh year of action. The Eastern Conference has been steadily improving in recent seasons and the Wizards are energized by their opportunity to make a big move in the standings despite the increase in overall competition. Thanks to John Wall and an electrifying roster that has some significant upsize, Washington Wizards tickets continue to go very fast all around D.C. as fans anticipate the next season that leads to the playoffs.
One of the best parts about the long schedule is also the many different chances to see the Wizards stack up with the other powerhouses from around the league. Games against the Cavaliers, Raptors and Warriors will certainly be some of the top games of the year, but the rest of the schedule is also filled with major battles that will test the Wizards' all-around ability. With their sights set on making the 2015-2016 season an aberration, the Wizards know they have the type of overall talent to give the rest of the conference a run for its money if they can put all the pieces together.
Washington Wizards Team Info
It's hard not to be excited about the Wizards' roster if you're a fan, mainly because they have one of the best backcourts in the game thanks to All-Star John Wall. Wall continues to be one of the best all-around point guards in the game, anchoring a very good overall team that finished just shy of the playoffs despite going on a tear to wrap up the 2015-2016 season. Now that the Wizards are aiming even higher this time around, the Wizards are out to prove that they can square up with any other team in the league and are optimistic about their chances to lockdown a playoff seed. With some contributions from an underrated supporting cast around Wall, the Wizards could be poised for a big rebound in the East.
Washington Wizards History
Following an earlier stretch in franchise history in Chicago, the franchise came to Baltimore in the early 1960s and eventually shifted over to Washington D.C. in 1973 to start the current era in franchise history. The franchise would also have quite a bit of success in the 1970s, as the Bullets brought home four different conference titles that decade to set the gold standard for the team. Eventually renamed the Wizards in 1997, Washington has been a major player in the Eastern Conference in recent seasons while making two recent playoff trips and narrowly missing out on another one in 2015-2016. Armed with another explosive squad that has fans talking around D.C., the Wizards are looking to turn their potential into another banner season in franchise history.
Washington Wizards Greatest Moments
The 1968-1969 was a monumental season for the franchise, as it was the first year that the newly drafted Wes Unseld was teamed with Earl Monroe. That year, the duo led to a dramatic improvement from the previous year and ultimately the Bullets (as they were then named) finished with 57 total wins, one of their best seasons in franchise history. At the end of the season, Unseld not only won the Rookie of the Year Award but was also named the league's MVP.
