The stars align

Formed in 2000, the Von Hertzen Brothers have a rich rock history. Vocalist and guitarists Kie and Mikko played in Don Huonot and Egotrippi respectively, while singer-bassist Jonne played in Cosmos Tango and with Jonna Tervomaa. The trio released their debut album, "Experience", in 2001 before recruiting keyboardist Juha Kuoppala and drummer Mikko Kaakkuriniemi for 2006's award-winning sophomore "Approach". Two years later, the group reached number one in their homeland with their third LP, "Love Remains the Same", a feat they also achieved with 2011's "Stars Aligned" and 2015's "New Day Rising". As a result of their success, the band landed support slots with several major acts, including 30 Seconds to Mars, ZZ Top, Neil Young and Foo Fighters, and also teamed up with Rubik to perform a special tribute show to Queen, named "A Night at the Huvila". Not your typical prog rock act

The Von Hertzen Brothers have been known to start their live shows with a 12-minute three-part suite, but they are far from your typical prog rock act. Indeed, sharing a chemistry that comes naturally as siblings, the trio reject the genre's signature po-faced attitude for a sense of showmanship that includes audience interaction, on-stage anecdotes and, perhaps most surprisingly of all, happy, smiley faces. And their adoring crowds are just as likely to enjoy the Von Hertzen Brothers live experience. The three-piece, all of whom perform at the front of the stage, deliver a masterclass in Finnish rock packed full of soaring harmonies, propulsive riffs and pounding basslines, while their drummer and keyboardist also help to flesh out their powerful sound.
