The Vibrators: punk rock pioneers
Ian Carnochan, AKA Knox, Pat Collier, John Ellis, and John 'Eddie' Edwards formed the band in 1976 and shot to notoriety during the punk explosion of the 1970s. They were signed to RAK Records, releasing their first single "We Vibrate", and also provided the backing for Chris Spedding’s anthem "Pogo Dancing". By 1977, the band were touring with the legendary Iggy Pop (featuring David Bowie on keyboards) and releasing hit singles such as "Baby Baby" and "Automatic Lover", the latter taking the band’s raucous energy onto national music TV show Top of the Pops. 1978 saw the release of arguably the band’s most well-loved hit, "Judy Says (Knock You In The Head)", which featured on the UK singles chart at the time and was later listed by Mojo Magazine as one of the best punk rock singles of all time. Continuing to bring the incredible energy of the 1970s to some of the best venues around today, you can book your place at an upcoming gig from punk rock royalty right here; secure The Vibrators tickets today, or list your tickets for sale now with StubHub!
Legends of punk
Playing sessions for radio legend John Peel and being one of the pioneering bands at the historic Roxy Club venue in London are just a couple of the band’s later achievements, having also seen a few changes in the line-up with band members pursuing solo careers or playing with some other up-and-coming outfits at the time. However, the band played an important role in the history of punk rock and their influence continues to be felt today: the legendary band Stiff Little Fingers took their name from a Vibrators song of the same name, while popular Polish metal band Vader covered the track "Troops of Tomorrow" for an album released in 2011. They have toured around the world and offer a fantastic opportunity for young punks to experience the energy of those first gigs, as well as for experienced rockers to relive those unforgettable moments. While the line-up may have changed over the years, that raw punk energy lives on with this iconic band!
