The Picturebooks Tickets
Like your rock raw? Like the sound of two musicians belting out primal beats and blues/rock guitar licks until it hurts? Then you must be hunting for The Picturebooks tickets and a night of throwback, gritty rock 'n' roll that comes straight from the heart and drips like sweat down your tattooed arm!
Schedule
The Picturebooks are never far away from a live show. Heck, even their recording sessions are practically live. The German rockers are touring all over Europe in support of their trailblazing new album, with a couple of stops in Vienna before appearing at the Void Fest in Bad Kotzting, Germany. From then on they play a club tour all over the UK, culminating with dates in Glasgow and Leicester before heading back to Germany and Scandinavia for the rest of the year.
Trivia
The Picturebooks members Fynn Claus Grabke and Philipp Mirtschink aren't only musicians, they're also motorcycle enthusiasts who build custom choppers out of their own garage. This DIY approach extends to their music, too, as they build their own instruments and amps out of old scratch parts and surplus. They might want to check the wiring, as they report singer Fynn got electric shocks when touching the mic at a recent festival. Perhaps it's a reflection of their effect on crowds as they regularly sell out venues, including their UK debut in London.
Band
In 2005, Fynn Claus Grabke and Philipp Mirtschink met in Gütersloh, Germany and became instant best friends. The two teenagers began with a mutual love of skateboarding, and soon took it to music as they raided Fynn's attic where his father had an old recording studio. From the beginning, the duo kept a DIY vibe, relying on the resources they had to belt out scorching blues/rock from their motorcycle garage/recording studio. Their mission is originality, to give fans something real and unforgiving. They even barred each other from listening to any music during their album's recording so they wouldn't be influenced by other artists. For these rockers, everything comes out of the garage. In their case, literally.
Breakthrough
After releasing a couple of indie EPs in Europe, The Picturebooks signed with LA-based label Riding Easy. In June of 2014 the first fruits of their labour appeared with The Picturebooks' lead single, "Your Kisses Burn Like Fire," off their debut album. The scorching-hot blues track resulted in a quantum leap of recognition, gaining them new fans worldwide and more Youtube views than ever, setting the stage for a successful debut album.
Hit Albums
The Picturebooks made a mark with their debut LP Imaginary Horse, a 13-track album that brings to mind the desert heat and asphalt of a long Harley ride. They recorded it to sound as live as possible, even placing the microphones 12 feet away to capture the natural reverb of their garage studio. Lead single "Your Kisses Burn Like Fire" was their big breakthrough song, and they followed up with another hit, "PCH Diamond," a song romanticising the Pacific Coast Highway in California.
Show Experience
No one puts on a show like The Picturebooks. The duo play like cavemen, with drummer Philipp Mirtschink pounding his drums with mallets and guitarist/singer Fynn Claus Grabke breaking strings and singing full-throated, all with long hair and sweat flying everywhere. They have a take-no-prisoners intensity, and don't just give you the songs as they were on record. They change things up and improvise, guaranteeing a new experience every time. This is as raw as it gets.
