International EDM artists mix with local electronic heroes
The Marble Factory opened in 2018, the result of a takeover and revamp by the glittering gem of Bristol's nightclub scene, Motion, thus becoming the third warehouse-sized venue in the group. It opened to great fanfare, of course, given that Motion had been named among the top 20 of the Top 100 Clubs poll held by DJ Mag in the same year. No less an act than The Chemical Brothers performed at its launch, and in its first few months, the club hosted acts like Groove Armada, Floating Points, the stage name of English electronic artist Sam Shepherd, and Detroit rapper Kenny Dixon Jr., also known as Moodymann. It has continued to offer a very diverse line-up of artists, a mixture of spectaculars from well-known international and British EDM artists and showcases of local up-and-comers from all corners of the country. It has a wonderful 360-degree mezzanine floor, and has retained many architectural features of its original design as a Victorian warehouse, which have been enhanced with ultra-modern stainless steel amphitheatre fittings.
