The Griswolds tour dates
Named after the fictional family featured in the National Lampoon's Vacation comedy series, the four-piece indie-rock band The Griswolds first stepped into the spotlight with their hit "Mississippi." By 2013, they were signed by Wind-up Records and have since issued a pair of studio albums, including Be Impressive and High Times for Low Lives.
The Griswolds' background
An overnight success in their homeland, the Aussies self-recorded and released their debut EP, Heart of a Lion, before they had even picked a name for the band. The title track (co-written by Christopher Whitehall and Daniel Duque-Perez) received airplay in over 20 countries. The quartet quickly climbed the Australian charts backed by performances at Parklife and Homebake Music Festival.
Some of their most cited influences include MGMT, Kanye West and the Beach Boys. After being signed in 2013, The Griswolds were performing in the U.S, making their first appearance at the Brooklyn Bowl in New York City. Their first full-length album, 2014's Be Impressive, reached No. 197 on the Billboard 200, No. 7 on the U.S. Top Heat Seekers, and No. 33 on the U.S. Independent Albums chart.
The album featured the chart-topping songs "Beware The Dog" and "If You Wanna Stay." Making it onto the Triple J Hottest 100 and the Sirius XM Alt Nation countdown, both songs have become fan favorites.
In 2016, the Aussie rockers switched things up, teaming up with rapper Lizzo, laying down the Prince-inspired track "YDLM."
The Griswolds's notable performances
The Griswolds' first U.S. show was at the landmark nightclub Viper Room in Los Angeles. Their Be Impressive Album Tour included stops at The Kooks Australian Tour, accompanied by the British rock band Catfish and the Bottlemen.
