Built in 1885 by local chocolate manufacturer William L. Wallace, the Music Hall is the oldest theater in Westchester County in New York. It is considered one of the best representations of Queen Anne architecture in the county. The music hall was patronized by wealthy Tarrytown residents, such as the Rockefellers, the Goulds and the Vanderbilts, and it hosted extravagant flower shows, balls and other forms of entertainment. Tarrytown Music Hall was closed for structural problems in 1976 but was reopened a few years later after receiving renovations from a non-profit organization. Today, Tarrytown Music Hall is an important asset to the community, generating revenue to the town and space for local organizations. The acoustics of the hall are superb, and past attendees have enjoyed listening to performances from artists like Norah Jones, Randy Newman, Michael Bolton, Bonnie Raitt, BB King, Boz Scaggs, Lyle Lovett and many more.
