Performers at Stegeman Coliseum
Stegeman Coliseum TicketsStegeman Coliseum was originally known as the "Georgia Coliseum" when it was opened in 1964. In 1996, Georgia Coliseum was renamed "Stegeman Coliseum" in honor of Herman James Stegeman, who had been a major influence for the University of Georgia's, or UGA's, athletic program during his 20 years at UGA. Coach Stegeman was responsible for organizing the region's first large basketball tournament when he initiated the Southern Conference Tournament in Atlanta in 1921. Stegeman Coliseum has undergone several renovations in recent years that totaled $20 million. These renovations included a center-hung scoreboard, new seats, a new sound system, an improved LED lighting system and new graphics above the horseshoe end. The concourses also received improvements for spectator access to concessions and restrooms and more overall space. Stegeman Coliseum today is home to UGA's basketball and UGA's gymnastic teams.
