Growing up on the outskirts of Paris, the French vocalist was exposed to a range of musical influences throughout her upbringing. Her father is from the French island of Martinique in the West Indies and Caribbean music surrounded Shy'm during her childhood. A gradual musical development

In 2005, she featured on the song ‘Histoires de Luv' by French rapper ‘K. Maro', which sold more than 120,000 copies and propelled her solo career. Her debut studio album, ‘Mes Fantaisies', was released the following year and received critical acclaim. The album peaked at #6 on French charts and was entirely produced by ‘K. Maro'. A continuously evolving artist, Shy'm explored more of an electro pop style with her fourth album ‘Caméléon' in 2012.
