Seether announce mini UK tour
Heavily influenced by grunge gods Nirvana and Alice in Chains, Seether used Kurt Cobain's raw energy and simple hooks as a template for success in the post-grunge era. Almost two decades of consistent chart success has followed, and the group continue to write and tour new music. After the success of critically acclaimed 2017 album Poison the Parish Seether will visit the UK in 2018, with tickets available at StubHub.
Seether: South African rockers coming to the UK in 2018
Formed in 1999, Seether originated from Pretoria, South Africa where they were initially known by the name Saron Gas. They started out appearing at nightclubs and university venues before releasing their debut album Fragile and changing their name to the moniker fans know today. The band were chosen to support Gothic rockers Evanescence in 2002, before collaborating with lead singer Amy Lee on the breakthrough single "Broken", which was featured on the soundtrack to hit 2004 film The Punisher.
2005 album Karma and Effect brought further success when it debuted at number eight on the US Billboard 200 (later certified gold) while lead single "Remedy" gave Seether their first Hot Mainstream Rock number one. The group won the award for Best Alternative Artist at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2008, before rock number ones "Remedy", "Fake It", "Country Song", "Words as Weapons" and "Let You Down" provided Seether with consistent chart success over the proceeding decade. Albums Karma and Effect (2005) and 2007's Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces both charted inside the US top 10, before Holding Onto Strings Better Left to Fray (2011) came agonisingly close to topping the charts; peaking at number two. Isolate and Medicate became the band's second top five album in 2014, before 2017's Poison the Parish earned Seether some of the best reviews of their long and distinguished career so far.
Seether will visit the UK in 2018, and frontman Shaun Morgan was full of praise for European fans last year, saying: "Playing Europe has always been one of our favourite highlights of every tour. The fans are rabid and know the deepest tracks which means we get to play songs we often gloss over in the US. There's an intensity and passion that we feed off of and we often allow ourselves to play with more freedom and abandon."
