Webber liked the concept behind School of Rock and decided to bring it to the Broadway stage. School of Rock features all of the songs that were in the movie and has an additional 14 songs written by Webber. With so many hard-hitting rock songs in one musical, School of Rock is a delicious rock and roll fest that audiences love. It also has a lovely romantic story that winds through the rock and roll theme. School of Rock opened on Broadway in December 2015, running until January 2019. School of Rockwas nominated for five Drama Desk Awards, four Tony Awards and won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music.
Getting to Know the School of Rock’s CreatorAndrew Lloyd Webber changed the landscape of Broadway musicals when he brought rock and roll to the Broadway stage. Webber has well over 20 musicals under his belt but is best known for Evita, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Phantom of the Opera, Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar. Webber loves to create unique music, and his desire to push the envelope when it comes to musicals has led to the creation of famous songs such as "The Phantom of the Opera," "Memory" and "Jesus Christ Superstar." In 1965, Webber met lyricist Tim Rice and dropped out of school to begin creating music with Rice. Their first release premiered in 1968 and was Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. In 1971, Jesus Christ Superstar was released, and Andrew Lloyd Webber made it to Broadway stardom. To date, Webber’s most successful musical has been The Phantom of the Opera, which has been viewed by over 80 million people worldwide. Webber was knighted in 1992, and was made an honorary life peer in 1997 as Baron Lloyd-Webber of Sydmonton in the County of Hampshire. Webber is still writing amazing musicals and is considered one of the best composers of modern times.

What is the plot of School of Rock?School of Rock tells the story of a failed rock star wannabe named Dewey Finn who has to go out and get a real job. Finn has a roommate who is a substitute teacher and is home one day when a call comes in for a subbing job. Finn decides to pretend to be his roommate Ned and ends up being a substitute at a prestigious prep school. Calling himself Mr. S. because he could not figure out how to spell Schneebly, Finn decides to turn the school’s music class students into a rock band. Finn puts the children through an intensive two weeks of practice so they could try out for the Battle of the Bands. After Ned figured out that Finn was impersonating him, Finn is kicked out of the school. Still, the children manage to make it to the Battle of the Bands and in the end love and rock ‘n roll win out.
