Shawn Mendes' new album - another number one smash
‘Shawn Mendes’ - the singer’s third studio album - was released on May 25 to critical acclaim.
The album topped both the US and Canada charts, a feat the 19 year old also achieved with his previous two albums ‘Handwritten’ (2014) and ‘Illuminate’ (2016).
The lead single from the album was ‘In My Blood’. The song’s lyrics discuss Mendes’ struggle with anxiety disorder.
A few hours after releasing ‘In My Blood’, Mendes surprised fans by dropping another single right away.
‘Lost in Japan’ was inspired by Justin Timberlake, according to Mendes himself, while the lyrics were based on a dream he had the night before writing it.
The third single from ‘Shawn Mendes’ was ‘Youth’ featuring Khalid. Mendes had been staying in London during the 2017 terror attacks in the city and decided he needed to write a song about how young people were feeling at the time.
‘Where Were You In The Morning?’ was released as the fourth single before the album dropped.
After the album’s release, Mendes posted an official video for ‘Nervous’.
