12 Powerful Female Live Performances to stream this month

It's #InternationalWomenMonth - here's our collection of live performances from some of the world's top female singers

At StubHub we recognise the key role played by music and female performers in advocating for women's rights and empowerment globally. We all miss attending concerts so we would like to make it an occasion to celebrate these female singers for their live music achievements, as we look forward for them to get back on stage.

1. Beyonce - Who Runs the World (Girls), Live at the Billboard Music Awards (2011)

Queen B delivered an outstanding and powerful performance at the Billboard music awards, introduced by statements of other women and men who supported her journey to become a female empowerment icon.

Key lyric quote: the song title Who Runs the World: Girls is by itself a quote. Outside of her songs one of her most powerful statement is: "We have to teach our girls that they can reach as high as humanly possible"

2. Lizzo - Good As Hell (+ Speech), Live at Glastonbury (2019)

2019 was the first year of the artist performing at Glastonbury. She opened the set with a powerful speech promoting love, self confidence and body positivity

3. Taylor Swift - The Man, Live in Paris (2019)

As part of her 'City of Lover' tour Taylor Swift performed an acoustic version of 'The Man', a song with hints towards some negative personal experiences when dealing with male professionals who are still predominant in the music industry.

Key lyric quote: And I am so sick of them coming at me again 'cause if I was a man then I'd be The Man

4. Ariana Grande - God Is A Woman, Live at MTV VMAs (2018)

As a member of a strong feminist family Ariana has always been an advocate for women independence and empowerment to her young fan base. In her 2018 track God is a Woman she attempted to change the traditional narrative portraying God in non masculine terms. In the song's official music video Madonna also appears as a voice over quoting Pulp Fiction.

5. Demi Lovato - Confident, Live at Honda Civic Tour (2016)

Demi Lovato has been an advocate for numerous social causes including wearing a Dior Tee stating "We should all be feminists". Here's the impactful 'Confident' performance during her 2016 tour in North America. One of her 2020 tracks 'I love me' also talks about self confidence, and we're looking forward to see Demi Lovato performing it live on a stage.

6. Ke$ha - Woman, Live from Los Angeles (2017)

Defined by USA Today as 'The most feminist song of the summer' in 2017, Woman is an anthem for every girl who has experienced harassment. The singer was also particularly proud to write the track together with two male co-writers.

7. Alicia Keys - Girl on Fire, Live from iTunes Festival London (2012)

In her recent interview cover for Instyle, Alicia Keys revealed that her struggles to fit in and gain self confidence over her 20s are behind most of her women empowering lyrics including Girl on Fire. She also recently released her new autobiography: More Myself.

8. Madonna - Vogue, Live from The Blonde Ambition Tour (1990)

One of the pioneer female performers is Madonna, the Queen of Pop. Watch this outstanding performance of Vogue, a song about escapism and enjoying yourself on the dance floor with confidence.

9. Bjork - Venus as a Boy, Live @ Glastonbury (1994)

Back in the 90s the Icelandic star performed tracks of her first album at Glastonbury including Venus as a boy, a song celebrating traditionally "feminine traits" related to men. Her voice and scenic presence absolutely stole the show.

10. Dua Lipa - IDGAF, Live in Mumbai (2019)

Dua Lipa has always leveraged her popularity and influence to advocate for gender equality, especially in the music industry. In her speech, celebrating the win for Best British Solo Artist at the 2018 Brit Awards, she called on women to "take over the world". Here she is performing in Mumbai one of her most empowering tracks: IDGAF.

11. Christina Aguilera & Demi Lovato - Fall In Line, Live at the Billboard Music Awards (2018)

What about strong female duets performing live on a stage? Our favourite is from Christina Aguilera and Demi Lovato - two powerful voices who are also not afraid to disclose their weaknesses and stand up for women. The song also received a Grammy Nomination for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance".

12. P!nk - Perfect, Live at Rock in Rio (2019)
