Are One Direction getting back together?!

Reunion tour tickets briefly appeared online
One Direction: Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan

OK… before all you Directioners out there totally lose it, just bear in mind this could be nothing but a technical error.

So take a nice, deep breath. Feeling relatively calm? Good, now read on...

Tickets for a One Direction tour appeared on Ticketmaster Australia before they were hastily pulled down again.

The supposed concert for the boy band phenomenon - listed as “One Direction: On The Road Again” - was said to be taking place on New Year’s Eve (December 31) 2020 at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

A concert on this date would mark One Direction’s 10th anniversary.

On top of the Ticketmaster dates, the One Direction tour also appeared on Spotify under a playlist to mark the band’s eighth anniversary (July 24).

But a spokesman for One Direction told Evening Standard, "There are no gigs planned for One Direction currently."

Etihad Stadium also denied the concert was happening on an Instagram post saying, “Sorry this is not in our event schedule.”

Ticketmaster have said they are “unaware of the event” as well.

Fans predictably took to social media to express their hysteria - mostly in capital letters...

Meanwhile, ‘The X Factor’ judge Simon Cowell - who helped launch One Direction’s insanely successful career - has said he’s sure a 1D reunion is coming.

He told Entertainment Tonight, “I just think the legacy is too big not to go back to at one point. Plus they have enough songs.

“I didn't realise how many hits they've had, when they do get back together it will be a huge event.

“But look, they're all doing their own thing and they're all being successful. But I have a feeling it will happen. I really do. I'd love it to happen.

“Individually they were all great. The group was the launchpad, but, of course, everyone would love to see them back together - even if it was just a series of concerts."

Former 1D-er Liam Payne - who is going on his own tour in 2019 - has said he thinks the band would be up for a reunion and suggested they could bring their solo careers together for “five concerts in one.”

He told Capital in April 2018, “Like, we should go and boss it on our own and then when we do the show it can be like ‘yeah, yeah, just sit down there boys, I’ll sing a bit of ‘Slow Hands’’, you know what I mean?

“Imagine that? Like five concerts in one would be the most amazing thing. It’s the only way it can get better."

One Direction never officially broke up, instead calling their 2016 split a “hiatus” and leaving legions of fans in hope that they’ll eventually get back together again.

All former One Direction members have gone on to solo careers, with Harry Styles arguable enjoying the most success with the release of his 2017 self-titled album and a sell-out tour.

The rumoured tour dates came just as the boys themselves were celebrating eight years as one of the biggest bands of all time with the hashtag #8YearsofOneDirection, giving the concert dates even more credibility.

If a One Direction reunion is on the cards, we assume it would be without Zayn Malik, who left the band before the other members went their separate ways.

‘One Direction: On The Road Again’ was the name of the band’s 2015 tour, so it’s possible the concert was posted by mistake or as the result of a technical error.

But one reason the rumour might hold water is because EXACTLY the same thing happened before the Beyoncé/Jay-Z joint tour was announced.

It’s possible One Direction were planning to announce the reunion tour to coincide with their eighth anniversary, but decided to postpone it at the last minute.

Or maybe it’s a sneaky way for ticket promoters to test the waters to see if there would be enough demand (we could have just told you ;-)).

One Direction had a string of hits leading up to the 2016 split, including 'What Makes You Beautiful'...

...'Best Song Ever'...

...and 'Story Of My Life'.
