NFL London: All you need to know about the 2018 games
The NFL has announced the teams for regular-season games to take place in London later this year.
Here’s everything you need to know about the NFL London games…
Who is playing in the NFL London games?
GAME ONE (October 14): Seattle Seahawks vs. Oakland Raiders (Wembley Stadium. Moved from Tottenham’s new stadium after the opening was delayed).
GAME TWO (October 21): Tennessee Titans vs. LA Chargers (at Wembley Stadium)
GAME THREE (October 28): Philadelphia Eagles vs. Jacksonville Jags (at Wembley Stadium)
The NFL made the announcement on January 11 from Tottenham’s yet-to-be-completed ground - the world’s first stadium with a retractable pitch that reveals an American football field for NFL games underneath.
One game was scheduled to be held at the new stadium, but it was recently announced that it wouldn't be completed in time.
So far, 26 teams have faced off in London, with the exception of the Seattle Seahawks, Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans (those three have been announced for 2018), Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans.
Why is the NFL scheduling games in London?
The American National Football League has been scheduling regular-season game in the UK since 2007 so fans this side of the pond can get in on the action.
There have been 21 games in the capital since then, mostly at Wembley Stadium (although Twickenham Stadium has also hosted three). This is the first time Tottenham's new ground will host a game.
When is the Super Bowl?
After the regular-season games - some of which will take place in London - teams move on to the playoffs, which determine which two teams will clash at the Super Bowl.
The two top teams from this season will competed for the Vince Lombardi Trophy at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia on February 3, 2019.
Philadelphia Eagles - who will be playing in London on October 28 - are the current Super Bowl champions.
What are the basic rules for NFL games?
Each game is broken into four 15-minute quarters. The aim of the game is to get the ball into the endzone (for six points) or score a field goal (for three points).
The get the ball to the opponent’s end, teams have four chances (known as “downs”) to advance it at least 10 yards. If they fail, the ball is passed to the other team.
