Be there: NBA Paris Game 2020 tickets

Presented by beIN SPORTS in partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA), this will be the first time the American pro league plays a regular-season game in the French capital. France and the NBA have a long history together though, with the country having provided more players than any other European nation for the last 12 years.

“Our NBA Paris Game will showcase the continued global growth of basketball in one of the world’s greatest cities. With France leading a record number of players from Europe in the league, we look forward to bringing together basketball fans from across the continent for the NBA’s first regular-season game in Paris,” said Adam Silver, NBA commission, in a statement.

Unfortunately, this announcement means that the NBA will not be playing a game in London next year, but all the more reason to hop on a flight or the Eurostar for some baguettes and basketball in Paris. Sounds like a pretty slam-dunk holiday, wouldn’t you say?

Who is playing in the NBA Paris Game 2020?

The Charlotte Hornets and Milwaukee Bucks will be playing at the NBA Paris Game 2020. This will be the Hornets’ second game in the French capital, having hit the court there in 1994 in a pre-season match against the Golden State Warriors. For star player Nicolas Batum, who is from the country, this is sure to be extra special.

Batum tells Talk Basket, “I was very happy for the country first. I’ve played in Paris a couple of times, but an NBA game is special. It’s different. I’m thankful for the city, for the country to have two NBA teams to compete in Paris so the fans can really see that live. That’s good. The NBA is really big in France. They love basketball, so that’s good for them.”

This will be the Milwaukee Bucks’ first-ever game in Paris, though they had previously played in London in 2015. The team consistently has had one of the best records in the NBA, with key players including three-time NBA All-Star Giannis Antetokounmpoas and 2019 NBA All-Star Khris Middleton.
