James Blunt UK tour 2020

James Blunt’s 2020 tour includes nine dates in the UK in support of his sixth studio album, Once Upon a Mind.

Due out on 25 October, the singer and former British Army soldier described the upcoming record as “the most honest album I have ever made” in a statement. News of the tour came after Blunt released the collection’s debut single “Cold”, which was written for his wife and children. Metro described it as, “a long-distance love song”.

After experimenting with a more electronica-based sound on his 2017 release The Afterlove, Blunt’s new album sees the musician return to the emotional pop classics he’s known and loved for.

Ahead of its release, Blunt said in a press statement that his sixth album will be “deeply personal” – something that will doubtlessly give his fans all the feels. Kicking off on Valentine’s Day, the Once Upon a Mind Tour will see him perform the record across nine shows in the UK starting in Birmingham and finishing at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Back in 2004, James Blunt first broke through with his wildly successful debut album Back to Bedlam. The record included global hit singles “You’re Beautiful” and “Goodbye My Lover”. Not only did the collection top the UK Albums Chart, but it has since gone on to become the 18th best-selling album in British music history.

Since then, Blunt has been launched into global superstardom – selling over 20 million records worldwide and winning several awards including two Brit Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards and two Ivor Novello Awards, as well as five Grammy nominations.

Away from music, the musician is well-known for his hilarious Twitter interactions, amassing 1.9 million followers in the process.

Self-deprecating, honest and funny, Blunt has no problem poking fun at himself and has used Twitter to communicate who he really is to his fans – and his haters, after he became a punching bag for the press and music snobs.

Speaking about his mischievous headline-grabbing retorts to Belfast News, Blunt reveals: “If I'm just about to tweet, I read it out to the people around me, and if they say, 'No way you can't say that', that's when I press send."

What's the track list for Once Upon A Mind?

Once Upon a Mind was inspired by Blunt’s father, wife and kids. The album captures his magic with Back to Bedlam in that it talks candidly about his experiences, as well as helping him to say something deeper to his family that goes beyond just ‘I love you’.

According to Rolling Stone, Blunt said in a statement: “Back to Bedlam was similar in that I had been writing those songs for a while about my life experiences at that time, and they came together on my debut. And every song on this album represents something that I’m currently going through or have recently experienced. It’s a very personal record, and I’m proud I can share it.”
