Chichester’s Goodwood Estate is opens its gates to fleets of car enthusiasts for the 25th annual Goodwood Festival of Speed from July 15.

Petrol heads will be pulling up to the West Sussex event between Thursday, July 12 and Sunday, July 15.

However, Saturday and Sunday tend to offer the best racing action, with 150,000 race fans expected to turn up.

Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the hottest events on the motorsport fan’s calendar - so tickets tend to sell out pretty quickly.

What’s on at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2018?

The festival’s most popular attraction is the Goodwood Hillclimb, which sees drivers racing up the stretch for the fastest time, showing off their vehicles with cheeky stunts or simply taking a leisurely jaunt.   

If it’s the high-octane, death-defying stuff that revs your engine, you’ll want to check out the Goodwood Action Sports Arena for motocross stunts and trials.

For those that like it dirty, the Forest Rally Stage is where the dirt racers hang out, while speedfreaks should head to Michelin Supercar Run to watch the biggest names in fast cars go up against each other.

Of course, if all the racing action gets you overheated, you can just head to the paddocks and drool over all the cars with a drink in hand.

Ferrari, McLaren and Tesla are just some of the brands set to display new models.

Porsche will be showcasing a “never-before-seen parade” as the German car manufacturer celebrates its 75th anniversary.

And there’ll be a special edition Ford Mustang GT paying tribute to US pilots who fought in WWII.

Feeling flush? The Aston Martin from the James Bond film ‘Goldeneye’ is going up for auction! You’ll have to be willing to part with between £1.2 and £1.6 million though...

When was the first Goodwood Festival of Speed?

The 2018 edition of the motorsport event celebrates 25 years of the Festival of Speed.

The first Festival of Speed was help in 1993. Back then, the event was just a one-day meeting of car enthusiasts, but it's since grown into one of the most highly-anticipated car events of the year.

The Duke of Richmond - who owns the estate on which the festival is held - will be selecting his 25 favourite memories from the past 25 events.
