Avril Lavigne UK tour

Avril Lavigne will be taking her Head Above Water Tour on four UK dates with new dates to be announced soon — it will include three shows in London and one in Manchester.

The Canadian pop punk singer, fashion designer and actor will doubtlessly be performing tracks from her sixth studio album, Head Above Water, which was released on 15 February 2019. The record has been led by the singles "Head Above Water”, "Tell Me It's Over”, ”Dumb Blonde" and "I Fell in Love with the Devil”. Lavigne was originally only set to perform in the UK in April 2020 but the concerts had to be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak and subsequently postponed again in 2021 due to ongoing covid restrictions.

NME quotes Lavigne as saying: “We had the most amazing time performing on the US Head Above Water Tour! I can’t believe how quickly it went by. Seeing all your faces each night and feeling your energy was exactly what I needed. I truly missed being up on stage, singing with you and this has brought me so much happiness which is why I’m even more excited to announce that I’ll be taking the Head Above Water Tour worldwide next year with dates in Europe, Japan, China and Southeast Asia!”

Since Lavigne launched her music career in 2002 with her debut single “Complicated”, she has gone on to become the third-best-selling Canadian female artist ever after Celine Dion and Shania Twain — with over 40 million albums sold worldwide. That said, she has not released a new record or been on tour since her 2013 self-titled collection, Avril Lavigne.

Since that time, the “Sk8er Boi” singer has gotten married and divorced to Chad Kroeger from the Canadian band Nickelback as well as contracted a debilitating case of Lyme disease. She got her diagnosis around her 30th birthday in 2014, and for a time was bed-ridden and worried she would never be able to work again. Rising out of this dark time inspired Head Above Water, and its lead single of the same title.

In an interview with Daily Telegraph, Lavigne said, “Going down so hard with something like that reset a lot. I feel very proud — victorious that I went through that, and now here I am. I’m really glad my first song back is about that experience. Because how could it not be?”

Is Avril Lavigne still married?

Avril Lavigne is no longer married to her most recent husband, Chad Kroeger. She wed the Nickelback frontman in 2013 and they separated in 2015. However, that hasn’t stopped him from being a huge source of moral and professional support through her Lyme disease and return to spotlight.

Speaking of Kroeger helping her with Head Above Water, Lavigne tells People: “He took me under his wing, he got me in the studio, he recorded me, he was very encouraging. He helped me with some of the songs that I wrote, because he’s such a good songwriter — I’d be stuck on a lyric or stuck on a part, and he’d help me finish a song if I couldn’t and he would record it.”

She adds, “He’s just always been a cheerleader of mine and always been such a huge fan. He’s in my corner, he’s on my side, and he’s always been really great.”

Lavigne is also on good terms with her other ex-husband, Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley. She has recently been linked with a new boyfriend, Phillip Sarofim — the son of Texas billionaire Fayez Sarofim.

Is Avril Lavigne a clone named Melissa?

As first reported in 2016, a group of internet conspiracists theorised that the real Avril Lavigne died in 2003 and was replaced with a doppelgänger named Melissa Vandella. As evidence, they claim her nose’s shape has changed along with her autograph and voice. Even the fact that Lavigne has begun wearing dresses instead of her trademark trousers has been cited as a clue, though it seems —to the rest of us— that the original is still alive and well.

How to get Avril Lavigne tickets?
