Oh yes you Mae!
Mae grew up in London’s Kentish Town where her childhood was influenced by the music her parents listened to. Her father favoured funk and soul artists such as James Brown and Prince, while her mother veered towards easy listening and so Simon and Garfunkel were often to be heard. Her favourite recording artist, however, was the American performer Gwen Stefani. In fact, one of Mae’s most prized possessions was a Gwen Stefani doll! Lyrically, Mae takes her lead from story-telling songwriters such as Florence and the Machine and the simple beauty of Lily Allen tracks. Muller heralds her rise to fame as being entirely due to Instagram, although a talent like hers will always find a way to reach its audience. Her first video release, the refreshing girl-power anthem "Anticlimax", had over 100,000 views in its first two weeks. Mae Muller fans may also enjoy the quirky performer Lauran Hibberd and the music of fellow Londoner Arlo Parks. Tickets for these great acts and Mae Muller tickets can be purchased on StubHub now.
Vibrant, refreshing and honest
Her tracks are mostly aimed at girls and Mae considers herself an ambassador for female empowerment, however her sultry good looks and husky tones have also earned her a bevy of male followers. Her lyrics resonate with fans who have often experienced similar events for themselves such as cheating ("Jenny") or a lazy boyfriend ("Anticlimax"). An early career highlight for Mae Muller was proudly supporting the performer Charlotte Lawrence on her 2019 European tour. Mae throws herself into performing with all the joyous energy of a dolphin hitting the water. Often knowing every word, the audiences sing along, emphasising the parts that are the most meaningful. The first song she wrote at the age of 19 came about on a long train journey. Struggling with the boredom of not having an internet connection, Mae began scribbling notes about a boy she had met. With the collaboration of a guitar-playing friend, the track "Closer" came to life. Now carving her way through the music industry with her sharply honest lyrics and simple tunes, the girl from North London is undoubtedly on the up. Don’t miss out on the chance to see her live with Mae Muller tickets from StubHub.
