Known for her beautiful voice and impressive songwriting skills, LoneLady - aka Julie Campbell - has been winning over music fans across the UK and world since her 2007 debut. With a catchy pop/punk sound and clever lyrics, LoneLady has quickly made a mark on the post-punk genre of music.
This year, LoneLady is taking to stages across the UK and Europe to play her blend of electronic and live music. Fans who want LoneLady Tickets can catch the artist in Hertfordshire, Leeds, Cambridge, Isle of Wight, Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol, London, Birmingham, Norwich, and Brighton. She will then travel across Europe to play in Hasselt, Frankfurt and Lausanne, before returning to the UK to play in London and Leeds.
Campbell was born and raised in Manchester, UK, and you can hear it in her music. Campbell lists the industrial town as her main inspiration. In the sound of the music, she tries to illicit both the industrial, metallic buildings, as well as the crumbling construction of aged and abandoned structures.
LoneLady is made up solely of Julie Campbell. Campbell is an artist who began writing and recording music while she was in college at Manchester Metropolitan University. At first, Campbell recorded music on her own on a four track recorder. She was quickly signed to Filthy Home Recordings, however, and her catchy electronic dance music became known across the UK. While LoneLady has a sound all her own, she lists Parliament-Funkadelic, Arthur Russell and Prince as her main musical influences. Campbell doesn't only sing on her records, she also plays guitar, synths, cello and drum pad.
Julie Campbell launched the beginnings of what would someday become LoneLady into life during her time at college. However, in 2007, she released two singles that she recorded on her own under different record labels. These songs caught the attention of the label Too Pure and, in the same year, they helped her release a 7" single called Early the Haste Comes. From there, she was signed to bigger label Warp Records, who were able to help get her exposure in the UK and across the world.
After being signed with Warp Records, LoneLady created a full length studio album, which was released in 2010. This record was called Nerve Up, and it garnered tons of attention across post-punk circles. After that album, she completed a collaboration with Jah Wobble and Keith Levene, which was released on the album Psychic Life. Her newest work, Hinterland, which was recorded in Benton Harbor, Michigan, is receiving global attention, and helping her become even more well known outside of the UK.
