Kings Cross Theatre
The Kings Cross Theatre, for fringe productions and children's entertainment
If you visit the Kings Cross Theatre you can get two theatre experiences in one, as it were - it's right adjacent to the Platform Theatre, so the choice of entertainment is really wide when you find yourself down this end of the capital city. It's a relatively small and cosy theatre near Leicester Square, and is in fact a pop-up venue rather than a purpose-designed installation. This makes it sparse on interior decoration, and the focus is kept solidly on the entertainment that's on offer. It's a very good representation of the newer, hip millennium-era lifestyle venues, and offers an interesting mixture of fringe theatre and children's productions. One thing’s for sure: there's always something interesting to unearth when you buy or sell Kings Cross Theatre tickets on StubHub.
A pop-up theatre that delivers the goods
The Kings Cross Theatre can take close to a hundred people, and you won't find any of the normal supporting fixtures that are part of the infrastructure in established theatres. However, to harp on about that would be to miss the point of the place: pop-up venues are designed expressly to provide audiences with a stripped-down venue without all the expensive additional accoutrements, which is a very refreshing way to experience live theatre. This does not in any way affect the quality of the performances that have been staged here, however, so you can get Kings Cross Theatre tickets in full confidence that you'll have a theatre experience capable of ranking among the very best. It made headlines in 2019 when it staged the critically acclaimed Lazarus, the David Bowie-written play based on the Walter Tevis book, "The Man Who Fell To Earth", which Bowie of course played the lead role in in the 1970s cult film of same name.
Superb fringe theatre is the standard fare here
Other productions that have graced the stage at the Kings Cross Theatre have been of the fringe variety, with plenty of space created at the theatre for shows that aren't likely to go on to mainstream success, but which offer finely drawn characterisations and take on some of the burning issues of the day. This is the real lifeblood of the theatre industry, which often happens far away from the bright lights of the West End. Audiences have come here regularly to see plays like In The Heights. Children's entertainment has also been presented, with popular shows including Erths Dinosaur Zoo. This really is a little gem of a venue, and we can highly recommend getting Kings Cross Theatre tickets on StubHub.
