Katy B Biography - Peckham Singer On A Mission
Born in Peckham, London, Kathleen Anne Brien grew up surrounded by music. Her father David was a member of Eurovision competitors Les Humphries Singers, and she was sent to the famous BRIT school. By 2010, she had established herself as an artist herself, featuring on records like DJ NG's 'Tell Me' and Magnetic Man's 'Perfect Stranger', and soon released her own debut single. 'Katy On a Mission' came out that summer, giving the singer her first top five hit in the UK charts. Influenced by the likes of Faith Evans and Gwen Stefani, Brien lit up the charts with her dance-inspired electropop, following up her debut with the fantastic singles 'Lights On' and 'Broken Record'.
Debut album On a Mission dropped in April 2011, achieving a number two hit in the UK album charts and gaining praise for its mastery of multiple styles. It was to prove a busy year for Brien, first landing an opening slot for Tinie Tempah on his UK tour before headlining her own series of concerts. 'Anywhere in the World', a collaboration with producer Mark Ronson, helped raise her profile after featuring in a popular advertisement. Brien's second album Little Red gained its title from a nickname she acquired when young, and topped the charts upon its release in February 2014. Standout track 'Crying for No Reason' quickly became an anthem sung at club nights across the country, and she's now one of the most popular singers in the country. After collaborating with the likes of Mel C, Pixie Lott and Conor Maynard on 'Greatest Day', she's managed a first UK number one single with 'Turn the Music Louder' and promised new album Honey in 2016. She'll debut her latest show-stopping work live from May, so grab your Katy B tickets at StubHub UK now to see this great performer.
